Last weekend I went to the Emmys, here is a rundown of my look! First I used concealer on my under eyes and also any areas of the face where there are imperfections or redness. Those areas are usually around the nose and chin. I normally don’t wear anything on my face, but for a fancy affair like this I thought it appropriate to wear a little extra makeup. I did spend money on a new dress and shoes after all, so naturally I had to step up my game.
I was totally inspired by the red lip I saw at the Joy Cioci show during Fashion Week, so I knew I wanted to keep my eyes less dramatic so I could rock those lips. I lined the eyes with Blacktrack, making a cat eye swoop and filling in the upper and lower inner rims. Next, I applied the MAC Highlighter to the inner corners of the lid, bringing it out slightly on the lower lid. I then applied a light sweep of shadow from liner to crease, diffusing of course so there are no hard lines. I also filled in my brows so they have a strong arch. Since I’m blind and had to wear my glasses I didn’t want my brows to get lost behind them.
Next I applied a good amount of MAC Highlighter to the cheekbones, blending up toward the temple. You can never have too much shimmer when you’re going to a black tie affair. (That’s a lie, you definitely can. You don’t want to look like you just stepped out of Studio 54.) I applied blush underneath the cheekbones blending upward onto the apples of the cheeks.
Last I applied the lips. Follow THIS for how I did them.
I brought false lashes with me, but then I forgot to bring eyelash glue. Seriously?
This is how I did my nails: Mattese Elite Nail Polish in Black, painted so the moons of the nails are left open. Deborah Lippmann in Boom Boom Pow over the entire nail.
My dress is by BCBG Max Azria, so are my shoes, which you can’t see, but I assure you they are awesome.
Happy Easter everyone! I combined the skittles and gradient/ombre techniques for this manicure. Ignoring the imperfections (cuticles, chipping after 1 day of wear), I absolutely love this. It’s SO springy and cheery! :)
There is a great tutorial by The Beauty Department that’s been circulating around. I followed their steps with a few modifications: I painted all of my nails white first instead of sponging them onto bare nails and I taped around my nails (as you would with a water marble) to lessen the amount of clean-up. I definitely think this gradient/ombre technique is worth perfecting since I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it looks! Let me know what you ladies think! :)
